The Moxa EDS-4008 is a series of 8-port managed industrial Ethernet switches. Unlike unmanaged switches, the EDS-4008 offers extensive control and configuration capabilities through a web-based interface, a console port, or via network management protocols like SNMP. This allows administrators to perform critical tasks such as:

• Network Redundancy: It supports Moxa’s proprietary Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain protocols (with a recovery time of < 50 ms) as well as standard RSTP/STP to ensure network resilience and prevent downtime.
• Traffic Management: The switch supports VLANs (Virtual LANs) to segment the network for improved performance and security. It also features Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize critical data traffic, a must-have for industrial control systems.
• Enhanced Security: Features like Broadcast Storm Protection, access control lists (ACLs), port security, and secure management protocols (HTTPS, SSH) provide a robust layer of defense against network threats.

The EDS-4008 series is built with a rugged IP40-rated metal housing and supports redundant dual power inputs to ensure high availability. The series offers various models with different port combinations, including Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and fiber-optic ports (via SFP or fixed SC/ST connectors), making it a versatile solution for a wide range of industrial applications. It is certified for use in harsh environments, with wide-temperature models operating from -40 °C to 75 °C.
