Description
The Ubiquiti NanoStation Loco M5 is a compact and cost-effective outdoor wireless CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) that operates on the 5 GHz frequency band. It’s part of Ubiquiti’s popular airMAX series, which uses a TDMA protocol to provide high throughput and low latency in outdoor point-to-point (PtP) or point-to-multipoint (PtMP) wireless links. Its integrated 13 dBi dual-linear polarization antenna and durable, UV-stabilized plastic enclosure make it ideal for a wide range of outdoor applications. The Loco M5 is a great solution for extending a network over a distance, connecting surveillance cameras, or creating a high-performance wireless bridge with minimal interference from the congested 2.4 GHz band.
Key Points
- 5 GHz Frequency: Operates on the less-congested 5 GHz band, which helps mitigate interference from other devices that use the 2.4 GHz band, ensuring a more stable and reliable connection. 📶
- Point-to-Point (PtP) & Point-to-MultiPoint (PtMP) Links: Excellent for bridging networks between buildings or providing connectivity to multiple client devices from a single central location.
- airMAX TDMA Technology: The NanoStation Loco M5 uses Ubiquiti’s proprietary TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) protocol, which significantly improves network performance and scalability compared to standard Wi-Fi protocols in outdoor environments.
- Passive PoE: The device is powered via a 24V Passive PoE adapter (included), which allows for a single Ethernet cable to deliver both data and power, simplifying installation.
- Integrated Antenna: The built-in 13 dBi antenna has a 45° beamwidth, offering a directional signal that is great for targeted connections over a distance of up to 5 km.
