Description

The Starlink Standard Kit (Gen 3) is a high-performance satellite internet system engineered by SpaceX. It features a new, more compact, and flat rectangular “Dishy” terminal, which is lighter than its predecessors. A key design change from the Gen 2 kit is the removal of the motorized self-orienting feature. Instead, the Gen 3 dish uses a detachable kickstand and a software-assisted manual orienting process, guided by the Starlink mobile app, to achieve optimal signal acquisition.

The system is equipped with the new Gen 3 Wi-Fi Router, a major upgrade over the Gen 2 router. The new router features Wi-Fi 6 technology and a tri-band 4×4 MU-MIMO radio, providing a larger coverage area of up to 3,200 sq. ft. and faster Wi-Fi speeds. Notably, the Gen 3 router includes two built-in Ethernet ports, eliminating the need for a separate adapter to use wired connections.

The Gen 3 kit is built for durability and resilience, with a higher environmental rating of IP67 for the dish and a strong ability to melt snow at a rate of up to 40 mm/hour. The redesigned, reversible cable with standard RJ45 connectors is more durable and less prone to failure than the proprietary connectors used in the Gen 2 kit. The kit includes the dish, kickstand, Gen 3 router, and all necessary cables and power supply to get online in minutes.
