The Dinstar SBC300 Session Border Controller (SBC) is a high-performance, compact, and feature-rich security appliance designed to provide a robust and secure demarcation point for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and multi-branch organizations. It is an essential component for any business utilizing SIP trunking or connecting to a VoIP service provider, as it provides a critical layer of security, interoperability, and quality assurance for all voice and video communications.

The SBC300 is a dedicated hardware appliance built to manage and secure SIP-based communications. It can handle up to 50 concurrent calls and supports a maximum of 300 registered SIP users, making it an ideal fit for a wide range of SME environments. Its primary functions are centered around three core pillars:

• Security: The SBC300 acts as a robust firewall for VoIP traffic, protecting the internal network from malicious attacks such as SIP hacking, denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, and toll fraud. It provides NAT traversal, masking the internal network’s private IP addresses from the public internet, thereby preventing direct attacks on internal SIP devices. It also supports TLS/SRTP encryption to secure media and signaling traffic.
• Interoperability: The SBC300 resolves the common issues of interoperability between different SIP vendors and platforms. It performs sophisticated SIP normalization and protocol fixing, allowing various SIP endpoints, IP PBXs, and service provider platforms to communicate seamlessly, regardless of their specific implementation quirks.
• Quality of Service (QoS): The device ensures optimal call quality by managing voice and video traffic. It can perform bandwidth management, call admission control (CAC), and transcoding between various codecs (including G.711, G.729, Opus, etc.), ensuring calls are not only secure but also clear and reliable.
