The Ubiquiti LiteBeam M5 (LBE-M5-23) is a lightweight and compact outdoor wireless CPE (Customer Premises Equipment). It operates in the worldwide, license-free 5 GHz frequency band and uses Ubiquiti’s proprietary airMAX TDMA protocol to enhance network performance and scalability over long distances. Unlike standard Wi-Fi, the TDMA protocol intelligently manages time slots for data transmission, which eliminates hidden node collisions and improves airtime efficiency, resulting in reduced latency and higher throughput.

The LBE-M5-23 features a high-gain 23 dBi directional antenna that focuses the RF signal into a narrow beam, which is crucial for cutting through noisy RF environments and achieving long-range connectivity. With this antenna, the device is capable of providing 100+ Mbps of real outdoor throughput and can establish reliable wireless links over distances of 30+ km. The LiteBeam’s mechanical design is notable for its simplicity; it can be quickly assembled without the need for tools, and its unique ball joint mounting system allows for 3-axis adjustment for easy alignment. It is powered by 24V Passive PoE via a single 10/100 Ethernet port.
