The Dinstar SBC1000 Session Border Controller (SBC) is a high-performance, carrier-grade security and interoperability appliance designed for large enterprises and telecommunication service providers. It acts as a critical network element at the border of a VoIP network, providing a robust and scalable solution for securing and managing a high volume of SIP-based communication sessions. The SBC1000 is ideal for applications such as SIP trunking, Unified Communications (UC), cloud IP PBX, and contact centers.

The SBC1000 is a dedicated, 1U rack-mountable appliance built on a distributed multi-core processor architecture. It is highly scalable, supporting up to 500 concurrent SIP sessions and 200 transcoding sessions. This high capacity allows it to handle the demanding traffic loads of a large organization. The device’s robust functionality is centered around three key areas:

• Security: The SBC1000 acts as a sophisticated VoIP firewall, protecting the internal network from malicious attacks such as SIP hacking, Denial-of-Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks, and toll fraud. It provides advanced NAT traversal, topology hiding, and dynamic blacklists/whitelists to control access and protect internal IP addresses. For enhanced security, it supports TLS/SRTP encryption to secure both signaling and media traffic.
• Interoperability: The SBC1000 is a powerful tool for solving interoperability challenges between different SIP vendors and platforms. It performs sophisticated SIP normalization and header manipulation, allowing various SIP endpoints, IP PBXs, and service provider platforms to communicate seamlessly. It also supports transcoding for a wide range of codecs (including G.711, G.729, G.723, iLBC, AMR, and Opus), ensuring that calls can be connected regardless of the codec used by the different endpoints.
• Call Control and Routing: Beyond security and interoperability, the SBC1000 provides a flexible and powerful call routing engine. It supports dynamic load balancing, flexible routing based on prefixes, caller/called numbers, time profiles, and other criteria. This intelligent routing ensures calls are directed efficiently and cost-effectively. It also features a Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA) for full call control.

For high availability and business continuity, the SBC1000 supports 1+1 Active-Standby redundancy with dual, redundant power supplies. Management is simplified through a user-friendly, web-based graphical user interface (GUI) and can be centrally managed via Dinstar’s Cloud Management System.
