The Ubiquiti UniFi In-Wall HD (UAP-IW-HD) is a sleek, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) access point that transforms a standard Ethernet wall jack into a versatile network hub. It features a robust radio with a 4×4 MU-MIMO configuration on the 5 GHz band (up to 1.733 Gbps) and a 2×2 MIMO configuration on the 2.4 GHz band (up to 300 Mbps), providing an aggregate throughput of over 2 Gbps. This allows it to support over 200 concurrent clients within a single room or area.

Beyond its powerful wireless capabilities, the UAP-IW-HD functions as a mini-switch. It includes five Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) ports: one for the uplink (PoE In) and four for bridging wired devices. A key feature is the PoE passthrough capability on one of the LAN ports, allowing the AP to power a single PoE device (like an IP phone or camera) when the AP itself is powered by a PoE+ (802.3at) switch. The UAP-IW-HD is easily installed into a standard 1-gang electrical wall box and is centrally managed by the UniFi Network Application, giving administrators full control over advanced features like VLANs, guest portals, and per-user rate limiting
